Until recently you were not likely to have heard of or seen an armor ring as they seem to have been favoured mainly by people who adopted the Gothic style of dress. But, with the likes of designers such as Vivienne Westwood getting her creative hands on them and putting her own stamp on styles and designs they have been thrust into the jewelry fashion limelight.
That said, an armor ring is not for the fainthearted, you cannot seem to just wear one without creating a bit of a stir for sure. With other names such as slave ring, gothic ring and medieval ring used for them you just know that what you will see is going to be slightly out of the box when it comes to convention and the norm. Certainly images of a knights armor are cleverly depicted and captured in the overlapping metal work and you can easily imagine a sword being picked up in days gone by.
The amazing thing is that they are very comfortable to wear as they move very easily with the flexion and extension of your own hand movements. They feel no different from wearing any other kind of jewelry which is fantastic because they are more like works of art for your finger and I think that describing them in the same way as your normal bands around your finger does not do them justice.
I have to say that the appeal is very much unisex and if you love to express yourself in a non conformist way when it comes to any type of accessory, then I think that guy or gal, it really does not matter and they are the perfect finishing touch to complement any outfit for any occasion.
You could always give an armor ring as a very special, unique and thoughtful gift. Mind you, I know from experience how hard it is to make a choice from the awesome styles and designs and to give one away without getting one for yourself would be pretty special.
