Who is your favorite custom chopper builder? Why?
The popularity of shows on Discovery channel seems to be impacting the whole nation and abroad. I’ve heard of other custom builders never mentioned on those programs. Whether it be the “well knowns” or someone still not famous who is your fav?
I don’t think aliphian knows the true definition of chopper. Long front forks may not be as balanced, but too many people think the long forks are the single thing that makes it a chopper. A chopper can have short or stock forks as well. That’s a very ignorant view, but he is accurate in his assessment of himself.
Yes it’s hard to choose a favorite, but I just want to mention two builders…I’m amazed that Billy Lane hasn’t killed himself in his shop or cut off his own fingers. This guy was cutting sheet metal and runs the saw right into his own leg. I’d be willing to bet is IQ is about 30. But he does win, so maybe I’m an a55 to judge. Then there’s Russell Mitchell…I can’t stand this guy. He rates himself one notch below God. This guy blasts Americans every chance he gets because he wins in any other country but can’t win in the USA. He insults our taste and judgment because he loses. Americans are unlike any other place in the world and his ego can’t handle there are builders better than him and we recognize it. Maybe he should just relocate his butt to some other country if he can find an aircraft big enough to fit his big head.
If I were to choose a favorite it would probably be the Martin Brothers. Mainly because they do it all. Their designs are awesome and they paint there own bikes too. They do it as well as any other world-class painter. I like old school bikes too but the Martins have a long sleek look with their bikes I like them a lot. As far as entertainment value it’s more fun watching the Teutuls.
