Bigger and better? For scrapbookers who desire die cuts and phrases that can be as large as two feet tall, the Cricut Expression Cutting Machine might be the tool for you. Similar to the basic Cricut, this machine comes with a self-adhesive pad, a spatula, cartridges, ink sets and a DVD.
As seen on the Home Shopping Network and Infomercials, the Cricut Expression is simple to use. You select a cartridge, load up the ink, place your stock paper on the self-adhesive pad, insert the pad into the machine, push a button and let the die cutting begin. Beware though, depending on where you purchase your machine, it might come with one or two cartridges. You're limited to the shapes, words and fonts on those cartridges. You'll be highly encouraged to purchase other cartridges such as "Life's a Beach", "Doodlecharms" or "Sweethearts". What starts out as a $300 purchase can easily become a $500+ purchase! Oh, and don't forget to purchase a tote to easily carry your Cricut Expression to your next scrapbooking get-together. (CONTINUED BELOW)
The Cricut Expression comes with some really neat features. A shape can be flipped to face a different direction. If you need several of the same shape, there is an auto-fill button. For example, if you're making Valentine cards, auto-fill will cut twenty red hearts (depending on size selected) within seconds. In addition to cutting through stock, the tool can cut through glitter board, magnet material, and even chipboard. It also has a layering capability which will allow you to make cards, signs, etc. that are dimensional. However, you might have to purchase a jukebox so that you can use six different cartridges at once, instead of three that the machine is designed for.
Overall, the Cricut Expression is a great scrapbooking tool. It would be very handy for any large projects, such as bulletin boards, home decor, etc. Just be sure you understand what comes or doesn't come with your package, so you won't be disappointed. The Cricut Expression can be purchased at craft and hobby stores, retail stores or online.
